In our region we design for north orientation where possible to maximise winter solar access. There is always flexibility to accommodate some variation of aspect, particularly when considering views or difficult siting issues. Eaves overhang, shading devices, screens and plantings are all considered options in an attempt to shade windows and walls from unwanted heat loading.
