An urban retreat featuring passive solar design on a tiny suburban site
The building’s intimate proportions open out with a sense of space through connection with ponds and landscaping. Mezzanine, spiral staircase, fireplace, view-framing windows, and Japanese decorative elements, integrate harmoniously with modern kitchen. Internal mud brick walls and polished concrete floors provide thermal mass, protected by corrugated steel sheet external walls.
